Red Light Therapy for Sleep
Helight Sleep Device
Need a little help getting a restful night’s sleep? Have you thought about using red light therapy for sleep device? Helight makes it easy to get a better sleep with their red light therapy device that easily fits on your nightstand. It’s a compact unit that emits pure red light at a wavelength of 630 nanometers for 14 minutes, then gradually fades out.

How does that little Helight award-winning unit work to give you better sleep quality? You turn their sleeping device unit on when you go to bed and close your eyes. The wavelength passes through your eyelids and is picked up by photosensitive cells, triggering a biological response that helps you relax, predisposing the body to natural melatonin production. This signals your body to rest and promotes a deeper, more restful sleep. The device will turn off completely after 28 minutes.
I’m personally a fan of red light therapy for a few different reasons and I use it to help me with more than just getting a good night’s sleep. I was first introduced to red light therapy to help with my arthritis and it’s emerging as a treatment for a variety of skin conditions. I have a different type of device to help with my arthritis but I started to notice the benefits after a few months. You can read about those experiences in my Red Light Therapy for Moms article.
When I found out about Helight’s Sleep device I was eager to try it out as I had never used red light therapy to help with my lack of sleep. I’m not the best sleeper, I wake up constantly and always felt tired, feel that lack of sleep on a daily basis. I was more than happy to try something that might help me go to sleep faster, better and deeper.

Did Helight’s red light therapy sleep device work?
At first I just wasn’t sure if it was working for me or not. As I’ve mentioned I’m a restless sleeper and between my sleep apnea and waking up a lot I couldn’t tell if I was sleeping better or not. It was then I realized my smartwatch could help me determine whether or not I was sleeping better. I wore my watch to bed for two weeks straight and darn if it the results didn’t show that my deep sleep was increasing each night, so much so that by the end of the two weeks I had 2-3 hours more deep sleep each night.
See what the “red light” looks like in this super quick video.
This was huge for me as I rarely got that much more deep sleep. I was also waking up a lot less, yep my smart watch captures how often I wake up. My husband said he noticed I was falling asleep before him too, more often than not. This was also a big improvement as I’ve had countless nights lying there in bed wide awake while hubby was peacefully sleeping. How I envied him all those times of being able to fall asleep so quickly!
I’ve now been using my Helight Sleep for a couple of months and I don’t need my smart watch now to tell me I’m sleeping better. I can feel the difference, it did take those few months for me to notice the difference but I’m thrilled about feeling more rested which in turn has given me more energy!
The Helight Sleep has a USB plug, as I don’t have a USB outlet close enough to my bedside, I use battery pack as it uses very little power. After two months I haven’t had to charge the battery yet. It is bright when it first comes on but you get used to it and it does start to get dimmer before it finally shuts off after 28 minutes.
There’s also the HELIGHT KIDZZZ sleep device, it works exactly the same and is just a small, it just a more fun design for kids as shown above. I love that they have a 60 night money back guarantee and that it’s so small and portable that I can take it with me on my travels (and I do). I never sleep well the first couple of nights in a new place which is not helpful since a lot of times I’m only staying somewhere for two nights.
I took my Helight Sleep with me recently on a two-night getaway and yep, I had two nights’ good sleep, despite being in a new bed and location. I love how much this device has helped me get a better night’s sleep. There’s no subscription or app requried for this device, just turn it on and geat ready for a better night’s sleep.
