Pet Friendly Hotel Review - The Sorrento Hotel Seattle
As many of you know we are a family of animal lovers. My family and I love to travel together; from out of the country to visit family to short road trips and day trips to the latest attractions, no matter what we do we have fun. Unfortunately, for some of our trips, a piece of our family is left home without us--our beloved pups, our Blue Heeler, Luna and Chihuahua Little Zeus (LZ) and our cat Oliver.
It isn't very often that our family pets get to come traveling with us and we're often left feeling guilty as we drive away, leaving Luna and LZ behind. It wasn't until we had the opportunity to visit the Sorrento Hotel Seattle that we were able to finally take our dogs (sorry Oliver) with us on a trip. Seattle is a wonderful destination as it has so much to offer from fine dining to water views and a variety of attractions and cultural options. For those who live in the Vancouver area or Vancouver Island it's a fabulous option as for us it's less than a three hour drive. You're getting away and experiencing new things without having to book airfare or travelling too far.
As we drove up to the Sorrento Hotel Seattle which is located in Seattle's First Hill District and located just a stones throw from downtown we were greeted by the friendliest of staff. As we were unloading our luggage my husband noticed the cute chalkboard sign shaped as a dog and low and behold it had our dogs' names on it, welcoming them!
How cute is this with our dogs names on it? There's no doubt that the Sorrento Hotel Seattle is a pet friendly hotel! Luna and LZ were the only dogs at time of check in.
As we made our way to the front desk we were impressed with the stunning Italianate architecture and the warm, inviting atmosphere that will make you wish you'd booked a much longer stay. The friendliness carried over to everyone that works at this beautiful hotel. We checked in and they gave both hubby and I wine cork that could be used in the lounge the Fireside Room or the restaurant the Hunt Club for a glass of wine. Our daughter was also given a token to get a toy from the treasure chest (nice touch Sorrento Hotel) which she insisted she do before we went up to our room.
We stayed in a beautiful 1 bedroom suite with adjoining living room and hideaway bed for my daughter. As a further testament to their welcoming manner, the hotel had graciously provided a treat for our daughter of warm cookies and milk for her to get when she wanted as well they provided beds for the pups and their very own dog bowls; all free of charge. We had only just arrived and were already being treated like old friends
The Sorrento Hotel Seattle is home to, service that is personalized to your specific needs and a . Playing host to a total of 76 guestrooms and suites, each decorated in unique European styling, the Sorrento offers free Wi-Fi, superb meals in the Hunt Club and a warm fireside by which to end an evening in the Fireside Room. There is an area to take your dogs just on the side of the hotel where you can get doggy bags and run into other dog owners. Everything was very convenient for taking the dogs out and the whole area seemed very pet friendly.
The evening we arrived we had dinner in the Hunt Club. Now before I tell you more I will preface this with the fact that we have eaten in a lot of restaurants, many of them to considered to be considered some of the best restaurants around. To sum it up we were impressed with everything that we ate. I was impressed that their children's menu had some variety and was extremely well priced.
My daughter enjoyed her macaroni and cheese and she's a picky eater, trust me. I didn't take any pictures because the atmosphere was so warm and cozy and the restaurant was full on a Thursday evening. I did not want to ruin the ambience of the restaurant by having a flash go off. I can say we were so full that even though we LOVE desserts we just couldn't muster any room for it. I had a beef tenderloin dish that was cooked to perfection and I love my beef.
Here are some pictures the hotel did provide me so I could share with you. Trust me when I say all the food we had for dinner in the Hunt Club did look and taste this good 🙂
In the Fireside Room adjacent to the Hunt Club, they have a piano and they hold a variety of small events in this cozy area. They have a silent reading event that is weekly I believe and quite popular from what I'm told. They have various musicians come in and play, in fact we had the pleasure of hearing some of this live music during out stay. It was simply wonderful to walk by or sit down and enjoy the music and when you were ready you could go to your room for peace and quiet.
We liked the Hunt Club so much we went back late the next morning for breakfast. As we were there after the breakfast rush it was not busy so I snapped a few pictures.
My eggs benedict was delicious! There were two eggs but I devoured one before I remembered to take a picture. My hubby is an eggs benny fanatic and he proclaimed them to be excellent. I agreed, I also loved the smashed potatoes, delicious and a nice changed from regular old hash browns.
Our daughter had the kids waffles which came with a chocolate milk. Her portion was quite large, I would have found it to be more than enough for myself.
I also had the opportunity to tour the conference room area that people can book for business meetings and gatherings and the banquet hall area that has been booked quite a bit for weddings and other special occasions. These rooms are gorgeous with the Italian architecture continue throughout with the warm wood tones, sconces and more.
All in all we were very impressed, especially with how pet friendly the hotel was. Not only were our dogs treated just as well as any other guest in attendance but the fact that the facility was so well equipped for their guests with pets was a huge plus in my book. Supplying their beds and dog bowls was awesome but the free of charge dog sitting service and dog friendly area for doggy business were great additions to the whole package. With pet friendly hotels so hard to come by, the Sorrento Hotel Seattle was a welcome treat and I'm pleased to say that they've gone above and beyond to welcome their guests pets to their establishment.
The day we were leaving the Sorrento Hotel Seattle there were two more dogs added to the welcome sign. I thought it was funny that there was a "Freya" next to "Zeus" 🙂
We were told that the hotel would be undergoing construction in January (it will remain open) and they would finish in March. The elevator (which is small and old) will be upgraded along with several rooms. We can't wait to see the changes that they make as we love the hotel already so it would be great to see what improvements they make.
Suffice it to say that the Sorrento Hotel Seattle is a great place to go vacationing whether you're just passing through or looking to take the whole gang on a much needed getaway!

What a beautiful place and its so nice that you can bring your pets along, not many places out there that do that , And I love the size of the rooms and the food looks delicioius!!
I have not been to Seattle in a long time. This looks like a great place to stay. The food looks super and I love that we can bring our animals along. Thank you for sharing
Looks like a really nice place. The food looks amazing too. I like that they are pet friendly too. That is always nice.
It looks nice. I wouldn't want to stay at a place that allowed animals though.
I am planning a trip to Seattle and will definitely consider staying at the Sorrento! Such a glowing recommendation - and the personalized "welcome" sign for the dogs really puts this place over the top!
It has been a long time since I have seen such a high quality hotel offer these services, so I thank you for the information and appreciate it.
I'm glad to see that such a nice hotel was pet friendly. This has certainly come a long way for our fur babies.
I think more hotels should be pet friendly. With most people their pets are family members.
This place looks absolutely amazing! Not just because of their graciousness to our fur babies, but everything about it seems totally awesome. Thanks for the info - I am planning a trip to the West Coast next summer, and will be in the Sea-Tac area - the Sorrento is DEFINITELY where I will stay! Thank you so much for the info, woo-hoo!
I love the dog friendliness of this hotel! They really have a thoughtful staff, traveling is so hard on animals. We crossed country with 3 cats, and they were so upset it took them three weeks to forgive us. We carried water and food, but they were frantic. ( We moved ).
Thank you so much for sharing this review with us. I'm hoping to visit Seattle in the near future, and this hotel sounds perfect to me. And their food sounds heavenly.
Awesome! That is so nice to have a pet friendly hotel. I haven't been on a vacation for nearly 15 years but if I did go, I'd want to take my Cubby, my little YorkiPoo. He's such an anxious dog anyway aad just 3 years old. I wouldn't want to leave him behind. That you so much for the great review.
Hotels like that are far and few between. I love places like this...wished there were more. I love all the little touches for the dogs, dog bowls, dog beds...I just love it!
wish there were more like this
Wow I love that there was a sign welcoming them and the accommodations are lovely. The food looks great as well!
I dont have a dog but I have a cat that I would never leave behind. If I go anywhere I take him with me, if its over night.
I have four fur babies and when we travel we always take them with us. Thanks for the heads up
I love a hotel that welcomes my dog and this one looks like a really nice place to stay. I love the treasure chest too. That's a nice little extra.
wow, i would totally love to stay here... my dogs and me would love it !!
Thanks for your review of the hotel. It sounds great, whether or not you are traveling with pets.
It looks like a nice place and I'm sure for pet owners, it saves money not having to get a pet sitter while you're away. I personally wouldn't pay for a room where they allowed animals. But that's just me. I'm not a pet owner.
It was a very nice place lisa. I totally get where you're coming from but as someone who has stayed in pet free rooms as well, at this hotel I can tell you that there is no way you could tell that a pet had stayed in their rooms. the rooms are impeccable and there's no "pet smell" at all. Not sure how they do it but they do an amazing job.
Take care,
Michelle
I've always thought of Seattle as a Romantic city, now I know so! Love this hotel and the city - thanks for sharing pets or not

WOW! Thanks so much for the Fantastic Review of the Powered by Mom shares a Pet Friendly Hotel Review – The Sorrento Hotel Seattle! How Great is that! They even put your dogs names on the chalkboard! How inviting! We don't like to leave our fur babies at home either. We inherited a Mobile Home and we took our first trip with it right before my hubby fell ill this past summer. Our babies went along with us and we had a terrific time! We went to Virginia and it was so nice and quite there! There was a dog park and so much for the kids to do at the KOA camp! I would love to return again this year, however, I don't think we will be able to afford it! Anyway, I just love where you guys stayed the room was so nice and that bathroom! Beautiful! The food looked excellent and I can't get over that they gave the dogs beds to use and dog bowls and everything! The place was just gorgeous! Thank you so much for the fantastic review and for all those beautiful and yummy pictures! I really do appreciate it! Thanks so much for the information on the hotel as well! It's a place that, if I ever get to Seattle, I'd love to stay! Thanks again, Michele 🙂
wow, very nice. The only place I ever brought my doggies with was to a Hotel 6. So many nice touches for humans & doggies.
I'm very impressed at the thought and care then went into this hotel's operations. It's nice to see what appears to be a very classy place welcoming out 4-legged family members.
Wow, they have thought of so many details! I love the idea of the treasure chest full of stuff for kids and the dog chalk board welcoming your doggies. Such smalls things can make such a difference!!!
I don't have any doggies these days, but it's nice to see a hotel that welcomes them. And the human food looks good too!
