New Year New You with Neck Hammock

I'm not much of a resolution maker, however, last year, my doctor ordered that I needed to get healthier. Diet and exercise are obviously on the to-do list, but I also suffer from insomnia, hypermobile joints, and fibromyalgia.  This can make working out especially painful and I easily get my back and joints all out of whack, leading to more pain. I wish I could get massages every week, but alas, I'm a single mom to three kids. Enter the Neck Hammock. My favorite part of every massage is the neck traction. It makes me feel taller, relieves the tension in my neck and shoulders, and it is SO relaxing. Now, I can get the neck traction I crave anytime I want.

The Science of Neck Traction

Neck Hammock

According to a blog post on Neck Hammock's site, the benefits are many:

"The tension from the use of traction allows the muscles to stretch and the ligaments to extend in order to widen the space between the vertebrae of the upper spine. This allows for pinched nerves to be relieved and the muscles to relax and properly fall back into place. It also can effectively reduce muscle sprains and spasms. When spinal discs are worn down, traction relieves the pain caused by the ineffective discs. To improve mobility of the neck and to keep it pain-free, traction is a safe and drug-free option which may work for you."

With traction you gently stretch the head away from the body, lengthening the muscles and ligaments throughout your neck, shoulders, and back. You can achieve your goals of being pain-free, better posture, or simply more relaxation in your life easily with this nifty device.

The Joy of the Hammock

Neck Hammock

It can be as simple as sleeping on your neck funny, and it's a whole day of pain. With the Neck Hammock, hook up the straps, carabiner, and loop the main strap through a door jamb, doorknob or over a sturdy railing. The hammock is super comfy stretchable and breathable material It has padding for the sides of your head and the base of your neck. Simply lie down for 20 minutes, pulling the hammock away from where it is hooked up. You can move as far away as is comfortable to provide the desired amount of pressure. Put on the eye mask on, the do not disturb door hanger out, play some relaxing tunes and enjoy your rest! They recommended to not use it for more than 15-20 minutes at a time.  The relief and renewal you feel after use, and especially repeated use is heavenly.

Conclusions

The Neck Hammock has helped me to improve not only my posture but allowed me to continue my workouts. I feel SO relaxed and renewed after a session in the hammock. My stress levels are better, and I feel awesome after using it. It's so nice to take 20 minutes to myself and just "hang out."

  1. I nearly purchased one of these, but wanted to wait for more reviews. I think it would be terrific for my tension headaches.

  2. As someone who lives with damaged neck vertebrae, I live in constant pain. Your extremely informative review about How and Why this product might bring the relief I am seeking definitely helps me consider purchasing one. Can't afford it at this point in time, but hoping that my finacial situation changes soo, because it sounds like it just might give me the relief I am seeking without having surgery.

  3. After a recent car accident, I have injury to my neck, shoulder and arm. The traction table at my chiropractor's office feels nice but the result doesn't last.
I recently purchased a traction pillow for my neck and it feels nice but I believe after reading this review that the traction neck hammock would provide more longer lasting benefits and results.

    I'd love to have one!

  10. I carry stress in my neck and shoulders and if I don’t constantly massage out the tension, it will give me a neck spasm where I can’t turn my head either direction without serious pain. The spasms typically last for several days and I have a 45 minute commute to work. When the spasms occur, it’s a safety issue to try to drive to work because it’s painful to look in all directions for coming traffic. I like that this is a new option that I can try that isn’t medication. It seems simple to hook up and easy to use - even relaxing! I meditate in my office at work for 15 minutes each day during my lunch hour. This seems portable enough to store in my work bag and pull out to use during my meditation. I’m looking forward to seeing all the benefits I may gain from regular use of this.

  13. This would be awesome to have! My hubby can massage my back and shoulders ok but he is usually afraid to touch my neck because he's afraid of hurting me - I have a tiny neck and he has big hands! LOL This would save him from having to even try!

  17. This seems like something I could use. I often have times when I pinch a nerve and it is such a pain-literally and figuratively- to try to relieve it. I have never heard of a neck hammock but I am glad to have found out some info today. I will certainly look into this.
