Goulash with Lean Ground Beef Recipe - Gluten Free Option Too

Who wants a tasty meal that's easy to make, sure to please but made with lean ground beef so it's not full of fat? Check out this Goulash recipe with lean ground beef. You can also substitute the pasta with gluten-free pasta, we've tried with brown rice pasta too and loved it!

Goulash with Lean Ground Beef Recipe

Goulash with Lean Ground Beef Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 box of shaped pasta, 16oz (any shape is fine) - can substitute with gluten-free pasta
  • 2 cans tomato soup
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper, optional
  • freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to the directions on the box.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, heat approx. 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet.
  3. Add the ground beef, onions and seasonings to the skillet and cook until the beef is cooked through. Break the beef up into small pieces as it cooks.
  4. Add the tomato soup and ½ can of water to the beef mixture. Stir to combine and turn the heat down to low.
  5. When the pasta is done cooking, drain it well and add it to the beef mixture.
  6. Stir to combine and serve immediately with Parmesan cheese.

  7. I really want to try this recipe! I love a good goulash. I might try it with cream of mushroom soup instead of tomato because we use tomato-based dishes so often that I just feel like something different, lol.

  11. Goulash is a staple in my home. I have never tried it with tomato soup I am going to though 🙂 I use elbow noodles, can of diced tomatoes and a large can of crushed tomatoes. Thanks for sharing your version I will try it this week 🙂

  14. Notice the onions like me ..I love them in hamburger too..I had almost similar tonight and get the cheese filled pasta
    in the dairy..love it ..I am one person so makes for a small meal and healthy too..Since I have been following your

  17. We love Goulash here. Especially during the cold winter. Every time I make it just a little different, but always use garlic powder or fresh garlic.. Since spring is here, I've pinned this recipe for later use. Thanks.

  20. I love how goulash can be so different. Mine has kidney and green beans in it and uses tomato sauce. This recipe reminds me of my hamburger pie recipe, only there isn't a pasta in it and you put it in a dish and top with mashed potatoes and then cook a bit longer. Mmm, 2 things we could have soon!

  25. Thanks so much for this delicious recipe! It looks so good! I've made this before, however, I didn't use basil or chili pepper. I think when I made it, I used elbow noodles.
