Easy Apple Pie Recipe
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 45 minutes
Total Time 1 hour

  • 5 medium apples (I used 3 Gala and two granny smith) - ** optional, peeling the apple skin off.
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon of ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • Squeeze a little lemon about a teaspoon
  • 2 pie crusts (I used Pillsbury)

  1. Preheat oven to 425
  2. Start by thinly slicing up the apples. Toss those into a large bowl. Combine with your sugar and mix well.
  3. Next add cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch, salt, and lemon. Mix well and set aside.
  4. Get your pie dish and pie crust. Lay your pie crust down in the bowl and press firmly all over so it is snug to the bowl.
  5. Add in your apple mixture.
  6. Unroll your second pie crust and lay it over top of the apple mixture.
  7. Get the sides of your hands and press firmly into the sides of the pie. Then you want to bend the side of crust over and pinch.
  8. With a knife put a few slits in the top. Place in oven at 425 for about 45 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Let cool before serving.
  10. You can top with vanilla ice cream or whip cream. Enjoy.

You can also sprinkle some sugar on top of your pie crust before baking for that added sweetness to the crust. We don't usually do that since we think it's sweet enough and even more so if we had some ice cream to it! Pies also freeze oh so nicely so if you want make a couple at a time and freeze one to have on hand for when you have company or the family just wants this easy apple pie recipe!

I love this easy apple pie recipe because the pie filling really all apples enhanced with cinnamon and nutmeg. I don't like pie fillings full of filler, I want it to be as much fruit as possible in that filling.

  1. Apple pie is my absolute favorite dessert, yet I have never made one. This looks like a very easy recipe. I will need to try it. It looks like the pie was professionally made too.

  2. This sounds like a great recipe, thank you so much for sharing! My dad used to make homemade apple pies all of the time when I was a kid, but I have actually never made one myself before. I'm definitely going to try your easy recipe, thanks for sharing! 🙂

  3. There is nothing better than homemade apple pie. I have tried some store bought ones but none come close to good old homemade. This looks like a wonderful classic recipe.

  4. This looks really good. You did a fie job with the crust which is my downfall unless I cheat and use premade. I am waiting for apple season, I bet your house smelled great!

      • You can skip the cinnamon, keep the nutmeg and maybe add a bit of brown sugar for an added flavor. Nutmeg and cinnamon are the 2 most common spices for apple pie, there's not many more I can think of to go with it but try that 🙂

  5. I just love homemade apple pie. I enjoy it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream So good. Thank you for sharing this great recipe. God Bless

  6. Your pie is so ,lovely. I'm holding off on firing up the oven until the 1000 degree heat passes by here in SoCal - so pinned for later!
