Baked Mummy Halloween Donuts Recipe
Halloween Donuts don’t get any cuter than this simple baked mummy donut idea! A perfect treat for kids and adults to enjoy for Halloween! When Halloween is over if you don’t want to decorate the donuts you can enjoy them just as they are with your favorite toppings. If you want to make some Halloween donuts even quicker you can buy premade donuts as well, we’ll give some tips on that option too.
Mummy Halloween Donuts
I haven’t done a ton of Halloween recipes but when I do, I like them to be easy peasy and I also love it even more if the base recipe can be used the rest of the year. These mummy Halloween donuts meet those requirements, if you don’t want a Halloween theme you can just have well donuts. These are a denser cake-like donut as I find it easier to decorate the denser ones.
Homemade donuts or store-bought donuts?
If you have the time and inclination make the donuts from scratch. As mentioned these are a denser donut and more cake-like which I personally love. That said you absolutely can use store-bought donuts, I suggest using cake donuts though as I find them easier to decorate and they don’t sink in when you add anything on top. That said the lighter fried donuts will work too, it’s al personal preference.
Can you freeze the donuts?
Yes, you can freeze the donuts BUT I would do it without anything on them, so no chocolate etc.. plain ole donuts would be best to freeze.
Can you change the color of the chocolate layer?
Absolutely, if you wanted to add some red for “blood” to the mummy donuts you could melt extra white chocolate and add some red dye to it to drizzle on top of the donuts. I had tried using a “red” chocolate layer instead of the regular milk chocolate but I didn’t love the look as much as the milk chocolate layer but you can have fun with it however you want.
Let’s get to this treat of a recipe shall we?

Now doesn’t that sound easy peasy? The best part is they taste yummy too, a yummy mummy donut that’s for sure. Hey, I’m a parent I’m allowed to be corny as I’m constantly reminding my teenager.
As I’ve mentioned I like my Halloween recipes easy peasy because dessert decorating isn’t my biggest strength and I like the base of the recipes to be ones I can use all year long. It’s one reason I love cupcake recipes that don’t require amazing piping skills, cause mine are not amazing, fairly basic. However stuff like these other Halloween recipes of ours I can make them easily so if I can you can too like these ones:
One of my favorites are these Oreo Monster Cookies. Oh so easy and no baking involved and yes I eat the leftover Oreos cause they are Oreos!
If you’re like me and your decorating skills are basic, trust me you can make all of these fun and tasty Halloween treats and you can easily get the kiddos involved too!
